Monument Lab is a public art and research project focused on 21st century urban memory practices. We ask a central guiding question: What is an appropriate monument for the current city of Philadelphia? Monument Lab explored preliminary answers in Spring 2015 at an innovative research pavilion and prototype monument by artist Terry Adkins at Philadelphia’s City Hall. Monument Lab’s team of curators, scholars, students, and artists continue this undertaking through future installations, publications, and creative and collaborative research.
